Looking for a lot of privacy, peace and nature? Long walks or bike rides through the forests and moors? You can find it around our 2 forest cottages on private Estate The Heezeberg.
"Cottage is wonderfully located in the forest. Birds everywhere", review June
The estate is known for its beautiful natural beauty, the special fauna and archaeological finds. The estate of 22 hectares is composed of forest and cultivated land. Ideal for nature lovers who want to enjoy a stay with privacy.
In the middle of the forest are two friendly holiday cottages, the "Heezeberghuis" and the "Woudhuis". They are rented weekly from Saturday to Saturday during high season and outside the main season for a minimum stay of 2 nights. Each of the cottages offers space for 2-6 people who find an oasis of peace and natural beauty here. In consultation, two small pets are welcome for an additional fee.
Estate The Heezeberg borders the National Park 'Het Drents-Friese Wold', one of the largest and most beautiful nature reserves in The Netherlands with 6000 hectares of forest, heathland, drift sand and stream valleys.
The surrounding forest and pasture grounds are breeding and habitat for numerous bird species and small mammals.
The estate was originally in the hands of the well-known archaeologist Professor Van Giffen. Remains of burial mounds from the Tjonger culture (+/- 10,000 years BC) were found. There is a dolmen in the immediate vicinity of Landgoed De Heezeberg.
Just a 10-minute walk from both houses you can enjoy diner, lunch or a drink in the cozy village of Diever (Westerveld municipality, Drenthe). Diever is a picturesque green village and has several shops and a local market. Diever lies between Assen and Meppel and both cottages are easily accessible by car.
Diever is also known for playing the annual Shakespeare in open-air theater and summer markets. The theater is located at 750m walking distance from the recreation houses.
The estate is partially open to pedestrians and cyclists. There are attractive walking and cycling routes in the area. The forest paths around the holiday homes are only open to our guests and are wheelchair friendly.
